Overview

This course upgrades candidates to Oracle Solaris 11 from Oracle Solaris 10. It focuses on building the system administration skills of students. The training is appropriate for IT architects and System Administrators who plan and perform transitioning activities.

Course Prerequisites

• Experience administering an Oracle Solaris 10 environment
• Knowledge of the ZFS file system
• Any previous version Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris System Administrator or any previous version Sun Certified System Administrator
• Experience with Oracle Solaris Zones
  • Regular Track: Any candidate with basic knowledge of Oracle Solaris 10 administration.
  • Fast Track: Candidate with intermediate knowledge of Oracle Solaris 10 administration, ZFS file system and Oracle Solaris Zones.
  • Super Fast Track: Super Fast Track: Candidate with strong knowledge of Oracle Solaris 10 administration, ZFS file system and Oracle Solaris Zones.

Participants learn about the new features of Oracle Solaris 11. These include:

• Network virtualization
• AI, i.e. Automated Installer
• IPS, i.e. Image Packaging System

The training majorly consists of practical sessions where students experience live transitioning to the new operating environment, i.e. Oracle Solaris 11. They perform various tasks related to the migration of operating system. With the help of case studies in lab sessions, participants understand the best practices to be adopted while upgrading to Oracle Solaris 11.

In other words, the course provides exposure to the enhanced features of Oracle Solaris 11 OS. It is hence understood that students are already aware of Oracle Solaris 10 essentials.
